Market Update: March 2023 Update from WECAR
As we exit the winter months and head into spring, the Windsor real estate market will start to shift. Those looking for houses for sale in Windsor and took the winter off will start to return to the market. This coupled with the Bank of Canada deciding to hold rates at the last meeting meant a little more comfort in the market. However, today's market is still a stark contrast to March of 2022.
The Windsor-Essex County Association of REALTORS® released their statistics for the month of March and reported a sales dip of 41% in comparison to March of 2022. This March saw 417 properties sold, a decrease from 717 in March of 2022. There was also a 20% reduction in listings from March of 2022. The average sale price of a home also saw a dip, nearly 21%, from $720,567 a year ago to $568,204 last month. Additionally, WECAR reports that year-to-date sales for 2023 are down 44%.
