Working Around the Home? Think Safety First
Summer is the time of the year we get our houses looking in tip top shape before the snow and sleet comes to ruin it all. We get to enjoy the warm weather and the sun and get some outdoors time cleaning, landscaping, and fixing up our homes. Some of us might do it for fun and activity, others for the pride they take in their homes, and for some it may be in preparation of a fall move. As the summer begins to draw to a close Windsor REALTOR®s are getting ready to the market uptick in the fall. People will again begin looking for houses for sale in Windsor. They’ll be on the lookout for new LaSalle homes or one in any of the other Greater Windsor Area towns like Tecumseh and Amherstburg. That means people will albe be listing their homes and may start doing some work to up that curb appeal and that offer price. Whatever the reason, from looking to move or in general upkeep, make sure you are doing that work safely, with these tips.
Protect Your Peepers! Sure, when we pull the power tools out you bring the eye prediction too, especially when we work with wood and metal. However, some sort of eye protection should also be worn when doing any type of outdoor chore. Think about leaning into a tree or bush and getting a branch in the eye, or trimming a plant and a pieve flies off into your eyes. Be sure to protect our eyes, it’s one of the places on the body that once it’s injured, it’s difficult to fix.
Watch Your Toes! At minimum you should be wearing closed toe shoes when it comes to things like mowing the lawn or working with anything that can crush or cut. Absolutely do not wear sandals or open toed shoes. One slip from the mower or in landscaping could lead to problems.
Don’t Forget the Digits! It goes without saying you’ll be using your hands. You’ll be diggin, weeding, overall hands on no matter what you’re doing. Make sure to wear gloves that will protect against cuts, slivers, and other knicks that can injure your hands. Don’t forget the protection from bugs, spiders and other pests which can bite.
If you’re working outdoors please remember these quick and easy tips to protect yourself. You only get one set of eyes, one set of toes, and one set of fingers.
