Get Organized: Ditch The Summer Clutter
As the summer begins to draw to a close and we look to fall, people are starting to think about the indoor months. Winter will be here before we know it. For some this means they may be jumping back into the Windsor real estate market after taking the summer off or starting their first search for Windsor homes. For others, it may just be a time of the year to take advantage of the mild weather and prepare for the inevitable, the winter and snow. Regardless of if you are starting to search for houses for sale in Windsor, preparing to move if you took advantage of the summer market, or happy where you are at, the common theme is getting ready to ditch the summer clutter and get a fall deep clean around your home. We’ve got this handy guide to help you get your home decluttered and organized after the summer months.
Step 1: Closet Clean Out
Closets are a great starting place because they are typically the easiest. Go through your closet and your kids closet and try EVERYTHING on. If it doesn't fit or you don’t plan on wearing it, get rid of it and consider donating it. Then rearrange, fall and winter clothes to the front, spring and summer to the back.
Step 2: The Garage Chaos
If you have bikes, gardening supplies, tools, summer sports equipment, and everything else that got taken out in the summer taking over your garage, take a weekend to empty it into the yard and organize. You can donate or sell old toys, bikes, and tools, and get those winter needs like shovels and boots ready and accessible.
Step 3: Kitchen Refresh
The fall season means the return of holidays and hosting people indoors (if you’re comfortable of course). So take some time to declutter, organize and scrub your kitchen. Organize the drawers and cupboards so you know where everything is and you're not scrambling for a serving dish when the food is done.
Step 4: Kids
Take some time to repeat step 1 with your kids and all their clothes and maybe even create some extra room in closets for toys and more organizing. Speaking of toys, think about going through them and consider selling or donating unused toys that are taking up room.
A fall cleanout can help bring some peace of mind as the hosting season begins and if you are thinking of moving, it can make that process so much easier as well. Take advantage of the beautiful weather and get your home fall and winter ready with the steps above!
