Newly renovated Devonshire Mall is located centrally on Howard Avenue. boasting all the big brand stores, such as Lululemon, Roots, as well as a brand new food court. Windsor Crossings Premium Outlets is situated on Talbot Road and offers additional stores. Big box stores like Zehrs, Costco, Wal-Mart, and Real Canadian Superstore call South Windsor home. Looking to get or stay fit, you can get a workout or wellness session at Goodlife Gym on Dougall, visit Fit 4 Less at Devonshire Mall, or head down Howard Avenue to the brand new Movati Athletic facility. Looking for an activity? Devonshire Mall is home to Cineplex where you can catch a movie in comfy recliners. If you are more of the outdoors type, South Windsor is full of greenspace and parks. Central Park, Curry Park, Oakwood Park, and Bellwood Park all offer green space, baseball and softball diamonds, and jungle gyms. South Windsor is only minutes away from the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway trail and greenpace, an excellent place to bike, run, roller blade, or walk. The Capri Pizzeria Recreation Centre boasts two ice pads and backs onto a small set of walking trails. If you want to hit the links or throw some rocks, South Windsor boasts the beautiful public Roseland Golf and Curling Club. South Windsor is also a great place to be a student. The English Catholic, English Public, French Catholic and French Public school boards all have elementary and secondary schools in South Windsor, meaning no matter your learning choice, there is a school close to you. South Windsor is also home to one of the best colleges in the province. Located on Talbot Road, St. Clair College offers an excellent option for post-secondary education. New renovations and upgrades to the campus has made this already excellent school an even more appealing option and recently even acquired the AKO Fratmen to be part of their athletic department, now to be known as the St. Clair Fratmen.
At last census, the South Windsor area was home to 16, 803 people and roughly 6400 private dwellings. South Windsor is predominantly made up of single detached houses (90%), with a strong majority of them being owned (91%) and being occupied by families with 3 and 4 person households making up 34% of the market and the dominant agre group being 50-54. South Windsor provides an excellent family living environment with everything a family would need within minutes. Being an older neighbourhood with 71% of homes being built pre-1960 to 1980, there has been a flooding issue, however the City of Windsor has worked to address such issues and has provided resources and relief for those affected. Being such a bustling part of town, roadwork is seemingly on-going to maintain the roadways. In an effort to accommodate the traffic, the City of Windsor has put considerable money behind upgrading and maintaining the roads including the soon to be completed Cabana improvements between Walker Road and Highway #3, E.C. Row Expressway repair underway now, and the recently completed Dominion repairs and improvements.
