Adapting To The Season: Selling in the Summer
Summertime is here and with the recent changes in the Windsor real estate market, some are moving quickly to sell their properties and listing them among the other Windsor homes for sale. Others are taking advantage of the changes and are searching for houses for sale in Windsor and looking for their next home with their Windsor real estate agent. Unless they are a first time buyer, all of the above most likely have a property to sell. While spring can be the busiest season, summer also provides opportunities. One of the most prudent things a seller can do is adapt to the season they are selling in. We’ve talked about selling in the winter, but today let’s discuss some adaptations to take when selling your Windsor home this summer.
- Highlight the Outdoor Areas
- Let your outdoor spaces shine. Make sure your deck, porch, patio, or other sitting and dining areas are clean and organized. Make repairs or touch-ups you may need to make these areas look inviting and a place buyers want to spend time. Don’t forget the general outside appearance, so clean up the siding, garden beds, etc.
- Pool Spotlight
- If you got it, show it off, right? Pools are a major selling point, especially in the summer. Buyers are looking at homes in the warm weather, what looks like a better time than cooling off in the pool. Make sure it is clean, debris free, and add some seating near the pool if you can to create an area buyers can picture themselves spending their summers
- Landscaping
- Make sure you mow the lawn, clean up gardens, water the plants, and even add some potted plants for some pops of colour and to brighten up the home, they look great around entrance ways!
- Lighting Equal Value and Security
- Add lighting along walkways and at doors to frame the home, add a stylish touch, and add extra security to the home.
- Keep it Cool
- During viewing periods or open houses, set the AC to make the home cool and refreshing for people to walk into and beat the heat. Don’t go too cold though, we don’t want them walking into an ice box!
- Refreshments
- While you probably aren’t home for viewings or showings, let your agent know that you’ve prepared some cool refreshments like a pitcher of lemonade or cold waters for guests to enjoy and beat the heat. The longer they stay, the better!
