Beat The Heat: 6 Pool Options for your Backyard
We discussed in a previous post about pool maintenance and some tips and tricks to keeping your pool ready for swimming all summer. It is no secret that a pool is on many buyers lists when looking for homes for sale in Windsor. Who can’t picture themselves floating, enjoying a beverage, or playing with the kids to beat the summer heat. On the other hand, when searching for houses for sale in Windsor, a pool may have not been feasible for a number of reasons. Times change though, so if you are thinking about adding a pool to your home, here are 6 types to consider.
- Above Ground Pools
- Typically the most economical way to add a pool to your yard. They sit on top of, or just slightly below the ground a few feet in. Advantages include the relative cost to other pools, some are temporary and can be taken down, and are good for smaller yards. Disadvantages include limited life versus in-ground and are not the most appealing with landscaping, however they can be spruced up with decks.
- In-Ground
- As the name suggests, these are completely in the ground, the top edge is ground level with all systems typically buried as well with equipment hidden as much as possible. Advantages include the ability to custom design to fit the yard's dimensions, other landscaping, etc., come with a variety of accessories available depending on style like diving boards and slides, and have a long life-span. Disadvantages include the hgh-cost, construction can be lengthy, and they can pose safety risks without proper precautions.
- Infinity Pools
- These are the pools you see in the mountains and Hollywood Hills. The edge facing a typically steep decline has the water flow over creating an illusion that the pool has no end. Advantages include breathtaking views however, the drawback is the high costs to build and maintain due to their specialization.
- Lap Pools
- Another specialty pool, these have fitness in mind. These are typically in-ground and in a thin rectangular design, that are designed to simply swim laps end to end. Advantages include similar costs to in-ground pools, but the drawback is the footprint required can be up to 40 feet so space is needed.
- Swim Spas
- Another fitness orientated pool, these are pool and spa hybrid that use jets to create a constant flow of water swimmers can train against. These can also be heated so it can be used as a spa when not training. Advantages include a small footprint, but the drawback is this pool is specific to fitness for the most part not leisure.
- Hot Tubs and Spas
- Okay, so these aren’t pools per se, but are still backyard options. Meant for relaxation and hydrotherapy, the advantages include a very small footprint that can fit almost anywhere, but that also means the drawback is you can only sit in them.
