2022 Pantone Colour of the Year: Very Peri

Well you can thank the Pantone Colour of the Year for that. Every year for the past 23 years Pantone has released their colour of the year. The colour goes on to influence product development and even purchasing decisions in a variety of industries, from fashion to home furnishings, and even industrial design. The people at Pantone select this colour by considering a wide range of factors. Here is how in-depth their process goes,

“To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute™ comb the world looking for new color influences. These can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.” (Pantone, 2022)

We covered the 2020 Colour of the Year and 2021 Colour of the Year in the past. For this year, the 2022 Pantone colour of the year is Pantone 17-3938 Veri Peri. Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute explained a little about the importance of the colour to 2022.
