Welcome to Gorgeous Tecumseh
Head east down E.C. Row Expressway and you find yourself in the Town of Tecumseh. A mix of residential and commercial properties all tied in together, Tecumseh has all the amenities of a big city, but still maintains the strong small community environment.
While the town boundaries do run as south as County Road 8, the true heart of the town is north of E.C. Row/County Road 22. Lesperance Road is the first main road connecting with E.C. Row. While it is more residential than others, it still has some amenities such as Home Hardware, Carrots and Dates, Healthy Mama, and Slinky’s. It also crosses with Tecumseh Road East where you will find Frank Brewing Co., Johnny Shotz, Tim Horton’s and Shoppers Drug Mart. Also along Lesperance Road is the Town of Tecumseh town hall, fire station, and OPP Station. Just off of Lesperance on McNorton is Tecumseh Arena, a dual pad facility that is home to PowerTech Hockey as well as the home of Tecumseh Minor Hockey. Also located on site is Town Hall North, one of home fields for Tecumseh Rangers Minor Baseball, as well as the Tecumseh Skate Park. The town had applied for funding to expand these sports facilities, however they did not receive the government funding and the town is now investigating other avenues in which they could raise funds for the proposed project.
Manning Road is the main business artery for the Town of Tecumseh. The St. Clair Shores Shopping Centre is home to Sobeys, LCBO, Macro Foods, and many more businesses. Nestled in right beind this plaza is a Starbucks, along with a Chapters Indigo store and Imagine Cinemas. Along Manning Road you will find restaurants like Boston Pizza and Kelsey’s. Fast food places like McDonalds, Wendy’s and A & W. Some local options to support include Fratelli Pasta Grill, Kabobgy, and Wineology. Services like Estetica Day Spa, TD Bank, RBC, can also be found right on Manning Road, along with Zehrs, and Goodlife Gym just off Manning on Tecumseh Road East. Windsor pizza fans do not need to worry about missing out. Antoninos has a location on Manning Road and Naples Pizza is located along Tecumseh Road East. The previously mentioned Frank Brewing Co. is newer to the pizza game but on top making awesome beerm they make delicious thin crust pizza.
The Tecumseh area is also home to schools from both the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and the Greater Essex County District School Board along with the private Lakeview Montessori school. This means you have great education choices for your children.
If you are looking for activities, Tecumseh has ample amounts of greenspace for outdoor activities. A portion of the Riverside Drive Ganatchio Trail extends into Tecumseh, an excellent path for walking, running, cycling, or rollerblading. McAuliffe Park is home to tennis courts, baseball diamonds used by Tecumseh Rangers Minor Baseball, soccer fields used by Tecumseh Soccer Club, along with general use green space and a large jungle gym. Right next to the park is the McAuliffe Woods Conservation Area. The paths and trails are awesome for walks, hikes, runs, bike rides, or walking the dog. Smaller parks like Carling Park, Ticonderoga Park, Shawanoe Park, and Piqua Park offer more greenspace and places for outdoor activities. Lacasse Park is one of the biggest outdoor spaces in Tecumseh. The Tecumseh Thunder Baseball Club calls the diamond there home. It is also where the Town of Tecumseh Pool and splash pads are located. Ample greenspace means you can go here for a picnic, walk, play catch, or do just about anything else, it is located centrally in Tecumseh and an amazing community area. Lacasse Park is also home to the popular annual Tecumseh Corn Fest. One of the newest parks to Tecumseh is Lakewood Park South. The former Lakewood Golf Course, the new Lakewood Park South is the crown jewel of Tecumseh Parks. Here you will find an 18-hold disk-golf course, many paved and stone paths for walking, outdoor exercise equipment, a rock climbing boulder, and tons of greenspace. A true gem for the Town of Tecumseh. Just across the street Lakewood South Park is Lakewood Park North and Lakewood Beach. A waterfront greenspace and beach area to relax and spend summer days. If you’re a golfer, Tecumseh is home to Beach Grove Golf and Country Club. By membership only, this beautiful facility has 18 holes, a curling rink, as well as various benefits and amenities for members. On The Green is anohter Tecumseh business that offers virtual golf pods along with two 18-hold mini-putt courses and summer time beach volleyball leagues. Also located in Tecumseh, is Urban Surf Co. An awesome business offering paddle boarding rentals and classes, kayak rentals, plus other events throughout the summer time, it is an awesome place to have in your own backyard. Your activity and greenspace options are nearly endless in Tecumseh and no matter where you live, you are not far from a park, activity, or facility.
The Town of Tecumseh at last census was a town of 23,229. Tecumseh comprises 8,987 private dwellings, 99% of which are occupied by the usual residents (8,884). 65.6% of the residents fall in the 15-64 age range and 19.2% are aged 65+. The average age of a resident is 43 years old. Made up of mostly single-detached homes (80.9%) with other attached dwelling making up an additional 13.8% and an average household size of 2.6 people. The Town of Tecumseh consists of established families or families getting to the empty nest stage, however there are more growing families calling tecumseh home. The ample greenspace, parks, recreation, amenities, and how close all of it is to residential living, makes Tecumseh a place anyone would be lucky to live.
