Today we have our pre-spring cleaning checklist. The things to do to get ready for the full spring season and cleaning.
Here are 5 things you can do to get your home ready for spring cleaning:
- Roof + Gutters: Snow and ice from the winter months can cause damage to your home. Safely inspect your roof and gutters for signs of damage that you’ll want to correct before they get worse.
- Windows + Doors: Check for holes or leaks in your window and door seals. This will save you come the warm summer months from overworking your AC and your wallet.
- Landscaping: Inspect valves, lines and sprinkler heads if you have an in-ground system. Now is the best time to get it fixed before further use causes more damage and higher repair costs. Also check on your outside hose faucets and pipes to ensure nothing is cracked from freeze damage. Overlooking cracked pipes can lead to costly repairs when you turn your water back on.
- HVAC Maintenance: Clear any debris that may be on or surrounding your unit and do not forget to change your filters. Also spend some time making sure that the coils are clean and the fins are straightened out. If you see any issues, be sure to get your system serviced before you use it. Service can also be scheduled to ensure it is running properly and at peak efficiency.
- Fire Safety: Test all of your smoke detectors around the house. Check locations and make sure you have one in all the important locations. Check your batteries if they are not hard wired alarms. Don’t forget to check on that fire extinguisher(s) if you have them in your home. Check with your local fire department if you need help with smoke alarms.
