Windsor-Essex News: Local EV Supply Chain Continues Grows
As reported by Dave Waddell from the Windsor Star, Windsor continues to benefit from the Stellantis and LG NextStar battery plant coming to the region.
Mayor Dilkens confirmed that the city has secured another supply chain company for the EV industry. In addition, he’ll be flying to Europe along with Invest WindsorEssex’s vice-president with the goal of landing an additional deal for the region with one more on the horizon potentially as well. While a formal announcement is expected soon, the deal confirmed was with a South Korean firm that will provide insulation for the batteries to be produced at the NextStar Energy plant. The plant will be located on Windsor Airport’s industrial lands along County Road 42. The two other potential deals, one in the powertrain and the other in the electrolyte spaces, their plants would also call this land home.
As more projects and investments are confirmed in the area, more industrial land will be required, stressed the Mayor. He mentioned initiatives to get the Lauzon Parkway extension to Highway 401, as well as eventually Highway 3, as crucial to creating an industrial park on a portion of the Sandwich South lands located close to the new Gordie Howe International Bridge.
