The Windsor-Essex area is a hidden gem for golf lovers. The area is home to a host of different golf courses with many of them being open to the public, providing ample opportunities to get out and hit the links as the nice weather returns to Windsor-Essex.
Windsor is home to 3 courses. Located in East Windsor is Little River Golf Course, a 9-hole public course. Next, located in South Windsor is Roseland Golf and Curling Club. This 18-hole public golf course was designed by Donald Ross, who worked at the historic St. Andrews course. It has also been designated as an Ontario Heritage site. Finally, Windsor's premiere golf course, Ambassador Golf Club located just off of Ojibway Parkway. It was ranked as one of Top 59 public courses in all of Ontario and hosts the Windsor Championship on the PGA Tour Canada schedule.
Lasalle has some fantastic golf as well. Seven Lakes Golf Course near Laurier Parkway features an 18 hole championship golf course in addition to their original 9 hole course, both public courses. Essex Golf and Country Club located on Matchette Road just off of E.C. Row is our first private course on the list. That means you’ll need to know a member to visit this beautiful golf course and play the 18 hole course. Dominion Golf and Country Club is one of the area’s oldest golf courses and is great for all experience levels. It also includes the Dominion Golf Dome, an indoor driving range.
Tecumseh is home to Beach Grove Golf and Curling Club. This private club is home to a challenging 18 course along the banks of Lake St. Clair and features a clubhouse, event space, and recently renovated outdoor space with views along the waterfront. Just beyond Tecumseh city limits is Belle River and Rochester Place Golf Club and Resort, a public 18 hole course that features a mix of old fashioned tree lined fairways and links style holes.
Amherstburg is home to two courses. The public course is Coachwood Golf & Country Club, formerly known as Fox Glen Golf Club, an 18-hole course suited for any level of golfer. Head towards the waterfront and just off Front Road is the private Pointe West Golf Club. The sprawling, links style 18 hole course is challenging but rewarding course with their greens meeting or exceeding USGA standards. Anotehr premiere course in the area.
In Kingsville is Kingsville Golf and Country Club is a championship quality course that is made up of 3 different 9 hole courses, allowing you to play different course layouts as you'd like. Neighbouring Ruthven has Orchard View Golf Course, a laid back 18-hole public course that offers a more relaxed day on the course.
Erie Shores Golf and Country Club call Leamington home. This public course is situated along the Great Lakes and offers stunning views throughout the 18 hole, tree lined course.
The Harrow, Maidstone, and Woodslee areas all feature courses. Oxley Beach Golf Course in Harrow is an 18 hole, par-3 course, located along the Lake Erie Wine Route. It is known as Canada’s southernmost golf course. In Maidstone you can visit the the Royal Estate Golf Club, an 18-hole course that offers 3 sets of tees to accommodate all players. Next in Woodslee you can tee off at either the 18 hole championship course Belleview Golf Club or The St. Clair College Woodland Hills Golf Course. This is a 9-hole, Par 3 Golf Course, and as the name suggests, it is home to the St. Clair College golf team. Essex features 3 different courses. Willow Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole public golf course in the heart of Essex, Wildwood Golf and RV Resort is an 18 hole championship golf course, and Sutton Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course. All 3 are public courses open to the public.
