Right across from Downtown Windsor and just across the Detroit River, Downtown Detroit will be rocking ahead of Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend as the Tigers return home for games 3 and 4 of the American League Division Series versus the Cleveland Guardians.
Game 3 will take place from Comerica Park in Downtown Detroit on Wednesday October 9 with first pitch set for 3:08pm. Game 4 will take place on Thursday October 10 with first pitch set for 6:08pm. Game 3 will mark the first MLB playoff game in Detroit in over a decade, with their last playoff home game coming in 2014 when they lost to the Orioles in the ALDS. Just a few months ago Tigers fans wouldn't believe you if you told them they'd be in the ALDS. They got red hot in their last 42 games, going 31-11, to clinch an unlikely playoff berth. They kept the momentum going by beating the Houston Astros in the Wild Card round and splitting the first two games of the ALDS in Cleveland on the back of a Game 2, ninth inning, three-run home run from Kerry Carpenter to send the best of five series back to Detroit tied 1-1.
With get in prices starting at $100 USD, many Windsorites will be crossing the border to go to the game or enjoy the areas around Comerica Park. For those who do not want to cross the border the Downtown Windsor BIA is hosting a Game 3 watch party on Ouellette Avenue which will be shut from Park Street to Wyandotte Street starting at 12:00pm until 10:00pm Tuesday night. The big screen will be setup just across from Maiden Lane to watch the game. There are also plenty of options locally to take in the Tigers playoff action. Caesars Windsor has the House Sports Lounge, Legend’s Sports Bar, and their sportsbook ready and waiting for fans. Sports bars like The GOAT in LaSalle and Lakeshore, Loose Goose in Downtown Windsor and Lakeshore, Jose's Bar + Grill in Windsor and Leamington, and Bourbon in Windsor and Tecumseh are expected to be busy both. Finally, for those watching from home, get those Capri, Antonino's, or other Windsor pizza orders in early as they are expected to busy dinner and gametime rushes.
