Pending approval from town council on Tuesday, LaSalle is set to see it's largest commercial development in town history. The D’Amore Group and Petretta Construction are partnering to build a 25-acre development worth $200 million at the corner of Heritage Drive and Sandwich West Parkway. The development will contain just over 250,000 square feet of retail space and be called The Shoppes at Heritage.
The first phase of the project is scheduled to begin in early 2025 and will be open for business by the fall. It will add over 150,000 square feet of retail space and cost an expected $125 million. Among the businesses included in the first phase will be Food Basics, Shopper’s Drug Mart, Dollarama, McDonald’s, PetSmart, Tim Hortons, and Taco Bell. The developers say they are also negotiating to bring a national brand financial institution into the development.
From there, phase two of the development worth the remaining $75 million, will add an additional 100,000 square feet and will also feature a hotel offering both the overnight and longer-term guests.
The Shoppes at Heritage will be built by Petretta Construction and a key feature will be that the plaza will not have a uniform look. The tenants will be customizing and creating their own unique units within the plaza to give it a dinstinct look.
The development will service more than just the Heritage Park area of LaSalle. He expects the plaza to also draw South Windsor residents. While LaSalle is one of, if not the fastest growing area of Essex County, South Windsor is densely populated and still has demand for the services being brought to this development.
