2021 Pantone Colour of the Year

Every year, for over 20 years, Pantone has selected a Colour of the Year. This colour selection goes on to influence things like product development and purchasing decisions across a variety of industries. Some included are fashion, industrial design, product packaging, graphic design, and of importance to us, home furnishings.

How does the colour get picked? The process requires both thoughtful consideration as well as an analysis of current trends and potential future trends. Pantone has a highly skilled group of color experts at what they call their Pantone Color Institute. These experts meticulously search the world looking for new color influences. The entertainment industry, films in production, traveling art collections, new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions are all taken into consideration when they decide on the Colour of the Year.

For the year 2021, there are two Pantone Colours of the Year. PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. Here is why Pantone selected these colours.
