The Steps To Being a REALTOR®
Are you interested in the real industry and are thinking about becoming a REALTOR®? In this post we’ll look at the steps that are required to become trained and registered to transact real estate in Ontario.
The first step is your pre-registration courses. You must complete 6 different courses prior to registering:
Congratulations, you’ve passed all your exams, now on to step two! It is time to register with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). In order to register as a salesperson with RECO you need to find a brokerage to work at, it is time to start selling, not homes though, YOURSELF! Once you find a home at a brokerage, they’ll help you register with RECO and your local real estate board and you’re ready to hit ground running.
One last step, you must take one more class. Your articling course can be completed prior to or after registration with RECO as long as you’ve completed the pre-registration courses. You can choose one of Principles of Appraisal, Real Estate Investment Analysis, Principles of Mortgage Financing, or Principles of Property Management. Once, you’ve done all of that, you’re a full fledged sales representative, start selling homes!
